Alpha Detergent

Inci: MIPA-Laureth Sulfate, Aqua, Cocamidopropyl Betaine

A very effective, biodegradable surfactant which thickens easily to make foaming shampoos that are effective even in hard water areas.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Alpha Detergent is a clear, viscous liquid with a yellow tint. It has a high lathering power even in hard water.
Ā
The Mipa-Laureth Sulphate is a very mild anionic (negatively charged) surfactant. It is produced from palm oil and has a much higher oil content (up to 30%) than other surfactants do. This makes it much less drying and harsh. It is also biodegradable.
Ā
The Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a very mild amphoteric surfactant made from coconut oil. It functions as a co-surfactant and a good thickener that offers some conditioning effect.
Depending on what the pH is, it can be either anionic or cationic. It makes a good flash foam and stabilises the foam of the entire mix. When it is combined with the anionic Mipa-Laureth Sulfate, it increases the viscosity of the product and makes it more anti-static. When it is cationic, it makes the mixture even more mild.
Ā
The individual materials that make up Alpha are listed on the Cosmetic Ingredient Database (Cosing).

HOW TO USE IT

Use in formulations at up to 25%.
Ā
Essential Oils can often change the thickness of a finished shampoo and the citrus oils do this quite noticeably. If you add the essential oils or fragrance oils to the Alpha before mixing, the resulting texture is improved.
Ā
If stored in a cold room, it can get very thick in the bottle. Bring to room temperature before using or warm slightly in a water bath to make it pourable again.
It works very well in recipes combined with Sugar Detergent and Beta T.
Ā
Skin Care
Excellent cleansing ability make this a good choice for body washes and hand washes.
Ā
Hair Care
Very good foaming properties make this a good choice for shampoos and cleansing products.
